At various points of view, your front signals are blocked by your forks/wheels/tires/brake disc. Being mounted below normal line of sight, they are generally less visible to someone very close to you. I'm rather surprised they are legal.

This is true, but in order to drive defensively you need to see and with the turn sigs reflection in the windshield at night is more dangerous IMO because it kills your clear vision. So when are you going to be close enough to someone that they need to see your sigs?? The guy in front of you?? Who cares, they're in front of you. There is enough distance across an intersection that there is no obstruction of the sigs down on the forwards. Plus I have chrome spoke wheels. The sigs light that wheel up like I got neons attached to them, plus they light the road up about 2 feet in front of my wheel,so flashing or just being on at night is very effective at being seen. During the day you're just screwed no matter where your sigs are.

IMO it doesn't matter where your sigs are, you always need to drive defensively because idiots out there will still be idiots. I've gotten to the point that since both my car and SUV are invisible running fog and headlights then the only way to protect myself on a bike is to have a clear field of vision to stay on the defense. Which is probably why the OP wants to move them. And plus I like them there!

As for legal, vettes and other cars turn sigs are practically the same height off the ground. What is the normal line of sight because I see sigs on cars and trucks varrying from 8inches to 3 feet sometimes higher. A lot of states don't even require front sigs on bikes either.

To each their own, but that's my reasoning!!

Jaron, those look fantastic. I may have to consider that for my WG. Did you have to add any length to the wires?

No length at all, just ran them down the down tubes. In the link I posted above Reese wrote a great step by step, plus I think someone in that thread ran their wires actually in the down tubes, but the wires on the outside aren't very noticeable. You have to undo the connectors under the frames to pull wires through the controls unless you're fine with cutting and soldering. PM me if you need help or have more questions.

Well, the person turning directly in front of you, of course, is... in front of you. He is the one whose view of your opposite-side signal is obstructed by your entire wheel assembly. Not saying it's unsafe, just that it's less visible/less safe. But to each his own.

My headlight produced severe reflections, which I completely eliminated using wide black nylon webbing, taped to the w/s to fill the gap. Am looking for something more permanent, like a vinyl extrusion...This gap is due to the forward location of the w/s due to the space-consuming q/r mounts. The w/s is such a needed piece of gear, I really don't need it to be q/r, but it's handy for cleaning.

On my turn signals, only a small quadrant of the inner edge of each lens had to be taped so they wouldn't shine directly in my eye--no reflection in the w/s, in their stock position.

These 2 mods eliminated virtually all stray light.

Well what I meant was the guy across the street can still see my sigs. You said above that people close can't see my sigs. The only people that close are the ones right in front going the same direction as you, which doesn't matter if they see your sigs. But whatever works.

I usually don't ride with my shield till winter or now that I live in the rainy state of WA. Glad those mods worked for you. I still gotta figure out my headlight glare. I may try the HD visor for the headlight and see if that works, but I don't ride at night as much as I use too.
