06 FXDBI bar change to drag bars w/o buying new cables
I thinking about changing my stock mini ape hangers on my 06 Street Bob to a set of drag bars and I would like to forgo the expense of new cables. Any suggestions on riser height and bar styles that would allow me to do it would be much appreciated.
really any drag bar you go with will work with stock cables... depends what you want you with rise and where you want you hands for riser set up... what are you lookin to do
I would like to have as straight back riding postion as possible, Im trying to avoid leaing forward to much, a little is ok. I dont like the straight up risers so Im looking more for a swept back style to keep me in a nice comfortable riding postion.

I think you're approaching this a little bass-ackwords. You should match the cables to the bars, not the bars to the cables. I would get the bars that you really like, mock them up to your bike and then see if the stock cables will reach.
Most likely they will - if not, check out http://www.magnumshielding.com/
Call them and tell them what model bike you have and the bars you're installing. They'll set you up.
Take your time, do as much research as you can and get the bars that you really want.
As long as you go with around the same height T-Bar (9 to 10 inches ) the cables should work fine.
Recently put new bars on a friends soft ail for him that had some apes on risers that equaled around 10 inchs and the 10 inch t- bars worked perfect with the cables.
Not a Dyna but gives you a idea of the look difference.
