Just need some advise I am thinking about upgrading my exhaust from Rush !.75 slip ons to some V&H pipes. Does anybody know which pipe is the mildest sounding one,I dont want anything that will set of car alarms when I crack it or wake up the neighbors when leaving the house.I like the black short shots staggered but I believe they maybe too loud even with quiet baffles and what do you guys think of the big sots staggered are they crazy loud with quiet baffles or should I just install the Rush 2.0 baffles and save me some bucks and get a Danny Grey seat lol Any input would be a great help Thanks to all
I have v&h 2into1 and they turned colors and today the bracket on the side of the case broke and they don't make that pipe anymore and wouldn't even try to help so I'm going back to stock pipes with some rinehart 2into2 slip ons. thanks v&h
I have the Short Shots with quiet baffles and they are alot quieter than the cycle shack slip ons that I had on before.
I have the short shots also and today the tuner told me that I am losing 10-15 hp because of the pipes. He said that if i cut the baffles in half, it would help some on power?
cowpokey where did you get the avatar?
Do you like the sound of the Rush 1.75's and they just aren't loud enough? Just curious since I'm considering the Rush Slash Cut 1.75 slip ons for my 2010 FXDC.

Most post on the Short Shots causing a loss of power are because there is not enough back pressure with the stock baffles. The quiet baffles actually help increase the back pressure. Now cutting the baffles in half would reduce back pressure more like drag pipes. Which are good if you run your bike at WOT. If you have a stock or stage 1 set up on your bike I doubt you are losing 10-15 hp on pipes alone. I went from stock pipes to cycle shack slip on and the SOTP felt improved. then I switched to the V&H SS w/quiet baffles and it was about the same as the slip ons.
The 1.75s sound much better than stock its a great slip on you can change the baffle size you can check the sound on their web site. I have no problem with the sound but imo I should of went with 2.0 baffles they sound a little deeper
V&H are loud. No way around that. Best bet for a quieter system is simply some SE slipons or a 2-1 like the supertrapp. You might be best to save the money and get the danny grey seat. I think the seat will be more enjoyable than a different set of loud pipes.
