I'm a Full Face man.....but I'll wear my Fulmer V2 3/4 helmet around town when it's really hot.
All half helmets look stupid. Well, the Scorpion 100 doesn't look too bad, but on me it would be awful. I have a thin head so any helmet makes me look like the Great Gazoo. That's why I prefer FF's.

I really want to get a half-helmet for when I ride around here locally. Does anyone have any recommendations on some good fitting helmets? I tried a couple on, but they sit high on my head and make me look like a mushroom.
I was wondering if there was something out there that had a lower, more fitted look....
Look....... I may be new to the forum and be young but i have been riding for a while! I have over 10 helmets! 4 are full face and the rest are 1/2! 1 is a non DOT. I have a small face and wear and XS and i am only 65 inches tall! out of all those helmets the best one i got is a HELLS BELLS helmet! i read all the posts up until mine! none of those are the smallest or the least "mushroomish" helmets out there! TRUST ME! i looked for years to find a good 1/2 helmet supplier! they are on the pricey side though, But you get what you pay for. and the the helmets look BAD ***!
HCI makes a close fitting DOT 1/2. There is a 1/2 helmet thread that's about a year old in General Chat. Some members sent in pics with their helmets on. I even sent in pics of me wearing my HCI. Can't find the pics now. HCI and a few other makers use different size molds to make their helmets. Most makers use the same sized shell and just use different thickness in the foam to size the helmet.
I have a Daytona Carbon Fiber and, it works well. It's exreamly light weight! About as much as a winter weight cap. And, has adjustable styrups on the chin straps, allowing you to take a little out of the front to hold it down in the front at any speed! Get use to the "Mushroom", All DOT Certified helmets are required to have 1 inch of impact absorbing foam padding. Beleave me when I say , It's worth the minor inconvienience! I live in the contry and encountered 3 deer in the dark and no where for me to go!I layed my 06 FXD down and slid through them at about 35 MPH. Then the bike high sided an tossed me on my head! tore the hell out of the helmet, I got a little scuff on my nose. Rode away with $3400.00 in damage.
The Dealer can only sell DOT Approved helmets down here. Or maybe he chooses to only sell DOT Approved helmets. Whatever.
So I popped in looking for a 1/2 Helmet and they had one I liked but it was $200 or more.
No way. The helmet laws down here are fuzzy and most riders don't wear them. I don't like helmets in the first place but I've gone down before and they're worth wearing.
But I don't like them bugging me a whole lot either. Too heavy, too expensive, too noisy, too ugly.
I bought one form an Indy that I kinda like. Has a little vent dealio in the front of it. Not sure it works, but... Nice and light. Inexpensive. Flat, kinda rubberized black. So far, so good.
Don't get discouraged. A lot of riders go through three, four or five helmets before they find one they like.
It's when you start dropping big money on them that it gets depressing. I've had 'em with visors, without visors, 1/2, 3/4. DOT, non-DOT, Ramar of The Jungle types. Had a full face one time. Which, I think full face helmets make good planters but that's just me. Don't pay any attention to that.
You ask three bikers what their favorite helmet is and you're likely to get five opinions.
Just keep trying 'til you find one you like. That's really all you can do.
