I bought the Harley touring seat instead of spending the extra money to get a Mustang .
Bad choice.
My wife was slightly more comfortable, but I sure wasn't.
And I hated the look of it.
I ended up scrapping the Harley seat and buying the Mustang super wide touring seat 6 months later.
Huge difference for both of us on long trips.
We are both super pleased with it.
thanks for the insight. found a HD touring seat on craigs list for $100. just picked it up and put it on. looks like new, wife sat on it, and her butt is happy. if it wasn't 14 degrees i would have taken her for a ride.
I had the Sundowner put on when I bought my '11 Wide Glide and loved the comfort but hated how it looked on the bike. I returned it to the dealer before my 30 days expired and ordered the factory seat of an '11 Fat Bob. I find it as comfortable for me, and my passenger had no complaints but probably preferred the Sundowner for longer rides.
I'm now looking at the C&C SportTour with a rider's backrest. It has the look I like for the rider's seat and a little more padding for the passenger.
Here's a picture of my bike with the Sundowner before I returned it...
and the Fat Bob seat...
I have also returned the tall sissy bar (bet the HD dealer really hates me LOL) because the small backrest pad vibrates in the lower back of my passenger and she doesn't like it. It also requires a rigid mount luggage rack, which I don't like the looks of, so I went with a traditional backrest setup that allows a luggage rack to be attached and the whole thing come off with the quick-disconnects. That stuff is on order, but once it's all in place, along with the C&C seat, both the passenger and myself should be set for long 1-3 day rides.
