Default For those with HD Hammock seat

2013 SG. I switched to a 2-up HD Sundowner when the bike was new for my wife. We both have HD backrests. Mines adjustable. I still get uncomfortable in my lower back on longer rides. I'm considering a switch to a 2-up HD Hammock seat. I had the 2 in the showroom side by side and the Hammock has much more support where the seat curves up towards your back. The Sundowner has very little there. I think the foam is compressing on longer rides and bothering me. I can't demo it yet due to the really nasty winter up here. Dealer said I could pick it up on a Saturday afternoon and return it Monday morning in the spring. I'd appreciate any input on the Hammock seat. It's 1 1/2" wider for the rider and 1" wider for the passenger than the Sundowner. I'm 5'11" 180 lbs.
NOTE: I'm not interested in Corbin, Mustang etc. Thanks

I wish my dealer would have one for trial . They had others. I had a shop relieve some of the filler in my stock seat and it helped.

I've been using the hammock for a couple years now, when the wife rides with me. we both like it a lot. it raises me up a little too high for my taste, but other than that, its a great long distance seat for both of us

Have a Hammock on a 2011 Ultra Limited. At 6'2" I needed the leg room of the 1" back. I also have the HD adjustable backrest which I like. Have not paid much attention to height as ground reach is not an issue on any seat. I have extended floorboards as well but still using standard foot controls.

A couple of notes on the Hammock. Its very comfortable for short to moderate length rides. I do not notice the lower back area being that supportive so might not want to count much on that. The "hammock" support in the seat seems to stretch and firm up after a few hours in the seat particularly on hot days. I do find my butt gets sore after a couple of hours in the seat and I have to take a break. On extreme days over about 400 miles I have an HD mesh seat pad I use on the seat and my wife adds a gel Propad I had from an older bike to the passenger seat. This is just our findings and it may fit others better. All this said I do still like the seat and do not feel a pressing need to change.

Like you, I switched from a Sundowner (good touring seat, especially for passenger) to a Hammock. While the Sundowner was plenty comfy for both of us, it still transmitted harsh shocks up our spines when we hit pot holes or rail road crossings.

It made riding more stressful as I was constantly on the alert for going over bumps and would get a response from my passenger every time it would happen. She complained about a sore tailbone on long trips, and seemed less and less enthusiastic on going on any more rides.

The Hammock saved the day for us. Now going over the harshest bumps feels like the suspension has 2 more inches of travel. No more dreading the pot holes, or taking tylenol to get back on the bike.

While I would love a lower and better looking seat, this one allows me to ride in comfort, and that is priceless.

I also have a drivers back rest. Getting old sucks, but still being able to ride without pain keeps me in the saddle.

Just did a 4,500 mile. Smilin' all the way.

Hi there...I ride a 13 cvo ultra and went to sundowner since I had one on my other ultra and I liked it...since I lowerd the cvo I put the hammock back on and wow what a big difference..i use to say the sundowner was hard to beat but now I am a big fan of the hammock...most of my riding is cross country long trips for 2 weeks or more..

Hammock all the way here. It does sit you up a bit compared to sundowner and others. Just got my first 200 mile ride in it over the weekend and I almost fell asleep in the damn thing. I got the heated version.

I have a Hammock and Sunray heated seat for my Limited. The Sunray sits higher than the Hammock so i prefer the Hammock. The wife and I both think it has the best seat. The heated Sunray never made it on the bake last year....

Hammock saddle here (rider-only version, though). Love it. Did my 1000-miler last year on it through AL/MS/LA in the dog days of summer. Butt didn't get sore until the last 200 or so miles. Mine did move my seating position up and back about 1" in both directions, which was great for my 36" inseam.

Thoroughly pleased with mine.

I have a hammock and have had it on bike for 7 months. Love it for distance riding. Switch to stocker or now my new solo when staying local. I never had another touring seat but to tell the truth I won't have to get a different one.
