Anyone with an 07 Dyna. I'm considering an upgrade from my 883R to a Dyna. To many folks on the Sportster page who don't own a bigger bike have been dissing the 07's for problems. YOU own one. What do you think? Are you happy with it? Want to hear it from you rather than the salesman. Thanks for the help. Dave
I have an 06 fxdi. Nice bike. If you read through past posts on th 07 dyna those folks seem pretty pleased. I've owned sportys and glides. My old glide was not as quick and tight as my sporty. I think my 06 is as nimble and tight. The 07 has the bigger engine and the power is reportedly noticeable.
i had a 2005 sporty custom. 1006 st bob now. the sporty beat me to death, and i was cramped. so much more room on the dyna. and the 6th gear is so great to have . no big probles to report with my bobber. other than a bare wire under the rear fender.
Of course they're saying there are problems with the 07s...because every one of them has the inside scoop on it. Give me a break. I heard the same thing about the 06 when I bought it. There's all these changes, so there has to be problems. Nonsense....I haven't had 1 problem...even before they did the tranny recall.
The truth is, HD has quite a bit of cash these days....they have the funds to do extensive research and development before they ship a new model. Every bike they make is an improvement on the previous model....improvement being the key word. So while there's always the possibility that with new technology there may be some small bugs to work out...we're not in the same decade...or century for that matter...when HD would ship bikes that didn't run right out of the box. These new bikes are as bullet proof as any other manufacturer's bikes....NONE ARE PERFECT...but they're pretty damn reliable.
Bottom line is, no matter what bike you want to buy, there are always going to be those who "claim" to know about problems, bugs, issues, etc etc etc. Just buy what you want and don't worry about it...After all, worst case is if you do happen to have a problem...that's what the warranties are for.
Go for the new dyna man...they're great bikes!

Huh, what? Where is this "many folks" dissing the 07 Dynas for problems you speak of? I frequent both forums and have not read anything like this. Maybe I'm reading the wrong threads.
I have an 07 Bob. Goes like stink and corners on rails. I looked at sportsters but I would had to have one surgically removed from y a*s and two way knee joints fitted. I don't think you will be disappointed. Sure there are ****les with them running lean but when the aftermarket comes on stream fully regarding aircleaners and mufflers suitable for the O2 closed loop EFI it will be all systems go!
i've got an 07 Dyna Street Bob (view pics in pics area)... and love it to death. My best advice i can give you when you buy the new 07 is to let the dealer do the stuff you can't do in your garage ... and the other parts/chrome/etc, you can save big $, and buy off of eBay or Zanotti's.
The Street Bob is ESPECIALLY dangerous $-wise, cause the bike's so stripped down, the ONLY limit is your wallet and imagination.
I have an 06 Bob. I was looking at sportsters for a bit before and a salesman told me that alot of people who get sporty's do not have the funds to get the bigger bikes, so they settle with a sporty and then as time goes on they realize they should have waited and got the full size bike they really want. So I took this to heart and waited and I must say that I am glad that I did.
The early version of the Bob in 06 had a couple issues with the tranny and injectors but were all fixed by Harley at no charge for me. I am overly happy with the bike, even having to have a few things corrected but since the 07's as far as I have read and seen have had no real problems.
If you want a Bob, DO NOT SETTLE with a sporty. I am not saying anything is wrong with a sporty, they are nice bikes but if you want a Bob, then get one, you will be pleased imo.
Good luck in whatever you choose.
