now i just have to ask... what model and mount did you use? that setup looks fantastic!
Its a Garmin 750 been on the bike for years, no problems. I now use a Garmin 760, bacisally the same only its Black and has Blutooth.
I moved the 750 to the truck, and its still goin strong.
The mount was home made. Using a 2" tank lift. and Ram products.
Elec. plug mounted by tank lift
I wired the volume control into the dash, covering the volume shaft with the buttom cover that Harley uses for speedo stuff.
Wow, that's a lot of really good ideas for you Art, of course I expect no less from this forum. I ran for 2 years (never in the rain) with a Nuvi 260 without any problem. For basic functionality there's no better way to go unless you're an all-season rider. I switched up to the Zumo 660 for the features, like storeable routes, Bluetooth, glove friendly, etc.
The only thing that didn't come with the Zumo was the Ram mount base (ordered online)
On and off in seconds, and I never have to worry about rain again.
Gotta order one of those RAM mounts. I have been thinking about putting my GPS on my bike for awhile but have not done it. I have a Garmin Nuvi 255W but I didn't know where to mount it or if it would stay in those mount brackets with all the vibration. Guess it works fine. I will get one and get it setup. Thanks to everyone who posted all the pics and ideas.
I don't have a super sense of direction and I like to take off riding and just go down every unfamiliar road I come to. I've never had an issue getting home but I have had to turn around and go back the same way I came just because I didn't know another way to get home. The GPS would come in handy.
