Default tank badges

Anyone know how to remove the tank badges on a Bob without damaging the paint?

Thanks,

John

Go to the dealer and get some stuff called JP-1. I don't know if they sell it. My dealer just gave me a can from their service dept. It loosens the adhesive, but doesn't harm the paint, chrome, or engine. I still managed to snap one of the tank emblems on my Streetglide in half, but it was cheap looking to begin with. That stuff works.

Just peel them off. Be careful, it's stamped sheet aluminum and will cut your hands.

The easiest way...which has been discussed on this board many times, and which I have used for quite a few emblems/badges on different cars and motorcycles...is to take a hair dryer and warm up the emblem; then just take a piece of dental floss (or thin fishing line) and run it under the emblem to remove it. You could use anything thin and plastic. I suppose a nylon guitar string would work too, if it's thin enough. Just make sure it's not metal, or it could scratch. You can continue to warm the emblem with the hair dryer (or heat gun..whatever), just don't warm it too much or you could do damage to the paint around it or under it.

If you want more suggestions, just type "remove emblems" in the search box. I'm sure you'll find lots of info.

Removed mine, the adhesive was a PITA to remove, went to an auto detailer and got some stuff that softened up the adhesive but still had to rub. Ended up making some marks in the clearcoat, but used swirl and scratch remover and it looks much better now. I had tried wd40, hair dryer, googone before that. Called a dealer, they said they use brake parts cleaner to remove it, but I just could'nt bring myself to try that.

If you have trouble with the adhesive just take it to your local body shop. Thay have an attachment for a drill called a "Striping Wheel" that is like a big eraser and will take it off with no issues. That is what it made for, taking stipes, decals, and adhesive off. I used on on my pickup when I removed the door moldings and then just hit it with some wax and it was good as new.
