Whats the difference if your trailoring down the road at 70 MPH, or riding it down the road at 70 MPH?

riding and trailering are no different when it comes to the elements. the only way the two can be different is if the bike is covered. the cover will wear all the shiny stuff away.

I did it and it scratched chrome and paint don't do it get an enclosed trailer or leave it uncovered.... Some time your bike won't run or needs fixing that you can't fix on the side of the road or do you push it .....

here's the deal: 6 inches of snow on the ground, more coming. i have towed guads in the winter, impossible to get them clean again. just can't make myself pull the bike in this stuff. i'm retired, got nothing but time, i know if i go far enough south or west it will be nice enough to ride. hense the question.

I'm with you, ric306, I have a bike to pick up 60 miles away and nothing but bad weather, snow, ice and of course salted roads in the forecast between there and here.

I'll be carrying it home in the back of my pick-up, thanks to my Rampage power lift ramp. That will be better than using my flatbed trailer for keeping most of the salty spray off the bike, but I still hate the thought of having to clean that corrosive spray off of every nook and cranny when I get it home.

I was thinking about stretching a very tight tarp over the bike and securing in to the bed corners and wherever else I could to keep it from flapping. I could also tie and bungie a quilt or moving blanket underneath the tarp all around the bike to further protect the bike from abrasion.

I only need about an hours worth of protection at 60 to 70 mph to get it home clean.

So whats wrong with renting an enclosed trailer for one day? U-Haul has dozens.

I'd just spray the bike from top to bottom with WD-40, trailer it and then wash it when I got home.
