Hey, everybody new to the site and am looking to get a 2011 harley steet bob in march. First off I live in the chicagoland area and am wondering what dealerships are the best in the area or ones that people have had good experience s with. Also the msrp is 12999 for the bike have been quoted 14400 out the door so far. What is the cheapest I am going to haggle for at the right dealership. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Call Chicago Harley (in Glenview) and ask for Nick. Bought two bikes from him and got 2K off my last one with no freight or set-up fees. Best deals I've found in a 100 mile radius, and I looked hard.
YOur first mistake is buying a bike from any Harley dealer. You can find one 6 months old for way under MSRP and not have to deal with the d-bag dealership.
Unless of course you like them, then buying a bike from them will be the only way to get them to pay any attention to you.

So I take it you have had a less than pleasurable experience with one??
He didn't ask about what mistakes he's made, he's asking how much he can get off of MSRP. Maybe he (like myself) wants to start with a blank canvas, not something somebody else has done a Stage 1on that he doesn't want, or chrome that he doesn't like.
I bought a new '06 Street Bob from Illinois Harley in Berwyn and have had their service department stand behind me more than once over the last 40,000 miles. They have excelled in dealership folks picking up the slack- going beyond my warranty and covering both parts and service for unwarrantied problems. i can't say enough about the folks at Illinois Harley.
On the other hand, I can't tell you I got the very best price for the bike when I bought it- I did get it under the msrp+set-up charges, at least when you factor in the changes/additions I added to the sales invoice. Illinois Harley- good people, very helpful. Jay

When i bounght my 2009 Street Bob, I got $1500 off MSRP. In todays economy you should be able to get it for less than MSRP. How much less depends on the dealership. Ask up front if they have any incentive programs.

More than one actually. Especially the 2 here in Colorado SPrings. Unless you're gonna drop $30K on a new CVO right that second, they don't even acknowledge your existance.
Service dept acts like your breaking their ***** if you want them to work on a bike that you didn't buy there.
