paint simply will not hold up man, the flex it too much unless there is a flex additive in the paint, only way to go is powder we caot them all the time, here are some samples,,, hell i shot some springs today actaully

Mine have held up just fine. Sorry to contradict, but I'm looking right at them... Like I said, it's been well over three years, and the finish is still perfect. No flaking, no nothing.
Before I did it, I called Rustoleum's tech line (yes, these days, EVERYBODY has a tech line) and I told them what I wanted to do: paint motorcycle springs. They immediately said that their oil-based, gloss black paint would work just fine. It came in a little can from Lowe's Hardware.
I really didn't expect it to work, actually, but I figured if they looked like crap after a few months, I'd just buy the Progressives I wanted, anyway. Well, it's been three years, and still no Progressives. Works for me: $5 bucks vs. $500 bucks... no contest.
they came out amazing, held up over a season of me beating the **** out of my bike with 0 flaking, peeling, chipping, etc.
he actually lost money on the deal because if i remember correctly my shock broke his compressor not once but twice LOL.
