Has anyone on here had any experience with this particular license plate bracket (see link below)? I am considering purchasing this for my bike and was curious about the quality and ease of installation. If it matters, I have an 09 Fat Bob.
Also, please don't lecture me on the evils of having a license plate without a light...
Any serious feedback about mounting and installing these things would be wonderful. Thanks.
No experience with them, however it doesn't look like very heavy material. These Harley's really vibrate and shake. I prefer to have stuff "over" built. I had a license plate, bracket, custom bolts, etc. break off - never to be found.
Not tryin' to lecture you, but one other thing to consider is the position of the license plate. Not sure how Kentucky deals with it, but here in CA we have this Vehicle Code:
V C Section 5201 Positioning of Plates: Positioning of Plates
5201. License plates shall at all times be securely fastened to the vehicle for which they are issued so as to prevent the plates from swinging, shall be mounted in a position so as to be clearly visible, and so that the characters are upright and display from left to right....
I know that looks pretty ticky-tacky, but believe me, it wouldn't take much for the Highway Patrol or local LEO to pull you over and perform a "safety inspection" on your ride.....

Reason: Correction
I recently installed something similar to that on my Sportster with no issues. Not to lecture you about lighting but if the need arises to light your plate check on ebay for a set of LED light bolts. They mount just like the bolts to hold the plate on and with some simple wiring light the plate up while being very sleek and hidden.
I don't know about that one. It looks pretty thin from the pics. I had my first side mount brake off on the freeway. I'd look for a different one that's built a little more solid.
I use the Road6customs one form ebay. Had it for two years, no issues and it hasn't fell off yet. I didn't mount mine to the axle though. I used the rear bolt of the upper belt guard. Here's a link and some pics.....Oh and I don't have a light either and I haven't been hassled!!
Glassbiker & Jaron: Those look much better. Thanks for the info. I will check into those for sure.
I appreciate all of the info on lighting from everyone. I am well aware of the laws and requirements to display the tags in a certain way. I just don't care.
