I've been looking for a set of small throwovers for my bob and happened to stop into renegade classics today and saw a set of Hot Leathers SDC1004 13x10.5x20 bags. Took them out to the bike and they fit pretty well in between my shocks and turn signals so I bought them up, threw them on in the parking lot and rode about 70 miles back home. They seem to be well made for the $120.00 and didnt cause any issues with the bike we shall see how they hold up over the long haul. I was concerned with how the bike would look with them on but I am pretty suprised that they dont look half bad.
Only problem I have with them is where to tie the rear tiedown. Anyone have any suggestions? Its on the liscense plate bracket for now as you can see in the picture.
I'm thinking about getting some, what do you tie them down to?
The Fronts are tied on the swing arm the backs on the liscense plate bracket. I want to find somewhere else to tie them in back but there just isnt any room. I may leave the back untied and see how that works out.
they should not flop around to much if the front is tied down. the back tied to the licence plate is going to rub the paint off.
So I tried them without the backs tied and had a buddy follow me, they didnt seem to move around to much so im just gonna leave the back untied until they cause a problem
Make sure you test them loaded up too. I set mine up originally like that and they where fine until I put my rain gear in. Then the rear just sagged and wanted to keep rubbung on the swingarm. Good luck.
Those look great. They do however look really close to moving parts such as the swingarm which of course also means the axle nuts and brakes. As long as they are not touching that stuff tie them down, but if they are you "may" want to look at some cheap supports to push them away from that stuff. Just saying it doesn't take many miles for a bouncing swingarm to wear through leather and wreck nice bags.
