With .660 lift you do need roller rockers.

As always - awesome feedback! Well, already bought the lifters last month, so guess I'll go ahead & use em. I like the idea of saving the sheckles for a 103 kit, instead. Thanks again guys!

You are DEF going to need Roller rockers with that cam. Its .660 lift! Too much for standard rockers.

Roller rockers on a mild motor just give you another set of bearings to worry about, all the way at the top and as far from the oil pump as you can get. If they are required for a high lift cam they still need attention because of the higher spring rates. JMHO

Nope, just SE 204 cam & SE roller tappets for now. With parts, install & dyno tune ~ $1K. So savin my pennies for 103 kit - probably won't be until later this spring - unless I win the lottery

I'd say you'd need roller tappets for SE "e" cams (those ending with an "e" such as SE-259e, SE-266e). Their lobe patterns are very aggressive (high ramping) and thus would put higher strain on the tappets. This being said, roller tappets would not hurt for any cam. You might even get 1-2 mg more because of the lower friction.

Roller rockers will only be necessary for very high lift cams (0.6" and up).

Let us know how yours turned out! Thanks.

The OP is on a budget and the one thing I would tell him not to replace would be the lifters... The stock Harley B lifters are really good lifters I would never replace them unless they needed to and I dont think the OP needs them he hasnt explained any loud valve train issues. And I have heard of alot of failures with the SE roller lifters like the cross pin in the roller coming loose and all the needle bearings fallin out of the tappet etc . And your claim of 1-2mg?? Where do you get that from.. I do agree that the Roller Rockers arent needed especially with the cam he is gonna run..

To OP if you want to get the Roller Rockers get them they are not gonna hurt and you will be set if you want to run a high lift cam in the future but if you have some extra money and want to put it into the motor I would get some adjustable push rods or like I said get the Roller Rockers there a few you can get the S&S, Crane, SE I got the SE they are nice... Good luck keep us posted

Um, you do know the stock "B" style lifters are in fact roller lifters right? They come with them from the factory.
