So, I've finally convinced my mother to upgrade from her sportster to a big-twin. I had originally planned on getting her into a deluxe, but the larger softail is somewhat intimidating to her. Anyway, we went to the H-D dealership and she is looking at a SuperGlide Custom in rootbeer or a StreetBob in blue. Stock, the bob fits better, as the reach for the bars is not there. However, we are looking at getting the Burly Slammer Kit and a reach seat regardless (she's short). Supposedly, the reach seat pushes you up 3". Is this true? If so, does it really matter which model she choses from the gate? Personally, I feel the bob isn't as "done". It is a blacked out bike that has purposefully left annoying bits of chrome in awkward places. But, that's just my opinion.
Onto the Burly kit. I've already had it ordered, with a new kickstand. But, I am curious if anyone has experience with this kit. How is the ride? And, how much does it actually lower the bike? It is not my intent to actually slam the bike so far that the ride is ridiculous and stiff. I still want my mom to be comfortable on the bike...guess I'm nervous about it since I am not going to be the rider, and my mom is...(aging).
Right now, my mom has claimed dibs on the blue 'Bob, but can still be changed to the 'Glide if you guys think there will not be an issue after the install of these modifications.
