Default MS Batwing with Clearview Recurved windscreen

The weather has finally (!!) improved from the -11F at my house last week so I took the
opportunity for a quick test of the Clearview windscreen installed on my MS Batwing.

While I was happy from mile one with the Batwing, the stock 9" MS windshield still created
more turbulence at the top of my helmet than I liked so I decided to go with a Clearview
recurved replacement.

It's freaking perfect..

It's still not very warm here so I only took about a half hour ride, but I hit "significant" speeds
and the turbulence was completely gone. None. Nada. Nunca. Zip. The wind noise was
much, much lower but there was still plenty of air motion around my face and body; it just
wasn't turbulent or high velocity.

I used the 14" Clearview deciding to go for overkill rather than miss the mark. Others
may have just as good a result with a lower screen.

It took quite a while to get it, Clearview seems to make the screens to order rather than
keeping them in stock, but it's very well made, very clear and very effective..

I didn't take any pics today (still cold out there..) but the only difference is that the clear bit
is 5" taller and, if you're right there, you can see the recurved outer edge.

Here are pics I took after just installing the Batwing and larger diameter headlight.

This is basically how it looks...... once the weather warms up enough that I can do
some sustained riding, I'm going to take off those lower deflectors and see how it
does without them. They helped a ton on the HD quick release windshield, but maybe
I won't need them with the Batwing. It's be nice to take them off permanently.

I've got the ClearView shield also on a MS Batwing.. I bought the 8" recurve tinted. Shipping was fast for me, and the ride is great. I had a 17" clear windshield before and liked it, but with the batwing the wind along my shoulders and arms is reduced and thats what I wanted.. All and all, I'm happy with my set-up on my 2009 FXDC..
Check my profile, there's pictures there..

Is the height such that you are looking over it when you ride?

No. A 10" or 12" would allow me to see over, but I'm tired of dicking around and went
with a height I was positive would stop the turbulence.

Riding in the rain like that can really be tricky. They advise you to have the height level with like the tip of your nose. I cut my shield down to about that height and I can run at 70 mph with a ball cap on with the bill forward and it doesn't blow off. Riding when everything gets wet while looking through the shield can distort your vision especially at night with other people's lights on. Lots of video's on utube on how and where to cut shields down to.

just sayin man....

Figured that's where you were going based on the question.

I'm aware of that. I raced sports cars in 24 hour races for a number of years and
it rains at night.

If it becomes an issue, I'll deal with it, but having ridden in rain, snow, sleet, hail and
western dust storms, I find it less a problem than some do.
