Maybe the OP is thinking of lifters vice 'risers' ....
Ticking is usually coming from the rocker boxes and is normal valve train noise (within reason) ... the 'Singer sewing machine' sound a couple on here have mentioned ....
If you didn't notice it, can't believe there is much to it ....
thanks for the input everyone. to awnser a few of your questions, as far as oil i beleve there was normal oil when i purchesed it in november(i was thinking of running synthetic) the bike had around 14400 when i put it in for storage(i only put 900 since i got it) and yes there was a small sewing machine like tick but i assumed it was normal, im a new rider so i wasent sure

14,000 miles and cams are gone OUCH. What year is your bike? I would ask them upbout a cam upgrade and make sure it has the newer cam plate that uses the hydraulic tensioner instead of the spring tensioner while there in there

Excellent advice there, even if it costs a few extra bux you will enjoy a cam upgrade over stock!

Are the cam chain tensioners gone? On pre 06 dynas that is actually common usually around 25-30k. I would without a doubt go with the newer cam plate and upgraded tensioners....Swap out the cams while you are in there...You will like it!
Cam chain tensioners I might believe ... but, mine were less than a quarter gone at 25,000 miles .... still pretty hard to believe ... have seen them last as long as 75,000 miles ....
