I definitely would! Close should be fine, but resting right on the cap would concern me.

I have the Shortshots on my bike and have enough room to put my hand on the filler and remove it.

Maybe try loosening up the bolts and see if you can move the pipe some.

I bought '06 pipes for an '06 and as stated above...no problems with clearance anywhere.

Ok well if close is ok, then as soon as I get home from work that rear pipes coming off and I'll see what I can work out. Mascman, the problem is that these are for an '05, I have a power commander with o2 eliminators and opted for a pipe with no o2 holes.

I bought some plugs from the auto parts to cap off the bungs because I'm running the PC3 too.

Here is a pic of my pipes...you can see the clearance around the cap pretty good. Sorry it's such a big pic.

Great looking bike! Yeah i see the clearance your talking about now... If I cant get enough space in between the cap and the pipe I may consider reselling these on ebay and getting those... Somewhat off topic, but did you remove the o2 sensors completly from the bike? I want to take mine off but am worried about digging into all that wiring without knowing exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks! I like this bike a lot!

I did remove the sensors completely. Since you already have the O2 eliminators plugged in, just follow the wiring from the O2 sensor and take them out.

I can't remember the exact thread size, but if you take one of the sensors to the auto parts you should be able to get the plugs.

I'm thinking of selling these and getting something different over winter. If you can't get your pipes to work, let me know. I have the quiet baffles in mine which really deepen the sound and give it a little more torque. They aren't a lot quieter just a little lower in tone.

Ok I will definatly let you know. You wouldn't happen to have a sound clip of the quiet baffles would you? I'm REALLY liking the tone I have with the standard baffles (coming from SEII slip ons, its a bit more twangy for lack of a better way to describe it), but am open to new things. And thanks for verifying that you just trace the o2 wires to the location of the eliminators, I was worried they would be held in or buried under something, and didn't want to tackle too much of a project with not enough daylight.

I don't have a clip, and with only a dial up connection it would be a nightmare for me to upload!

The word "quiet" is pretty deceiving.

I know the sound you are describing, which is why I wanted to give the quiet baffles a shot. Being a wrapped baffle, I figured it would give a deeper tone and it did just that.

Instead of the hollow sound, it is more of a rumble. You can also control the sound pretty good. I can take it easy on the throttle and the cops won't even notice, or I can crack it and make it scream.

Best way to describe it is like the old glass-pack mufflers we used to run on the cars. Decent idle sound, but noise when you want it.

Of course, I'm talking small block V-8s, not these 4 cylinders with fart cans the pussies drive now!
