Default Bonanza fat bar advice

I am looking for some information and a little advice. On a 2010 WG, do the stock bars step down to 1" at the risers? My friend and I are going to put some apes on his WG. I thought this would be the best place for answers and since he doesn't internet or computer anything I am doing it for him Heck, he won'teven take the riser clamp off and tell me if it is 1" under there. We were thinking about these Bonanza fat bars. Will they fit the stock risers? I think they would be about the same width as the forks so that would be good. Let me know what you all think. Thanks!

Bump.

Does anyone have any advice? The bars have a 7" center. Will that work with the risers on a WG?

Take off the riser and measure it, I would believe that it does step down from 1.25" to 1" at the mounts.

Just a heads up, from what you have said it sounds like your friend will be watching you do all the work............only because he won't even take the clamp off to answer your (his question). There is nothing wrong with you doing the work for him, just make sure he supplies the beer and pizza for you!

Well, that sucks. Guess I better look for some 1.25" bars for him or he is getting different risers. He doesn't have a lot of extra money so we were trying to keep it within his "budget". I am not sure what risers would cost yet but surely black risers can't cost too much.

I probably will be doing most of the work. He has been bugging me since I put apes on my Road KIng. I sure hope it includes lot's of beer He isn't doing crap for researching this either but I sure am learning a lot.

yeah get new risers they are inexpensive and apes should be next to the triple trees not 5" above them if you use the stock risers.

You sure are helpful. Thanks! BTW...your apes look freakin' evil.

I wish he would have left his bike in my garage.....lol. How tall are the stock risers? I guess I will start looking for them. If you know where some cheap black ones are, pass it along. Thanks,

yeah, those risers are affordable. I have one more question if I haven't used them all up. On the touring bikes, folks switch to a one-piece riser clamp for apes. Is this necessary for a WG also? Just wondering what is looks like between the risers if the bars step down.

I used a one piece top clamp for the risers so you can't see the handle bar step down, if you go 14" or taller imo you will also need poly bushings.

i have to change to some stainless bolts...
