Bye Bye Girlfriend
Seems like i hold the longevity record here so far...been married 26 years.....and barely remember what the single life is like. After 21 years with no bike,it was time to get back into the wind or go crazy...these things really can give ya time to be alone and sort things out. My wife was totally against another scooter, but i think she realized it was something that i just had to do. She only rides with me occasionally but never gives me any grief when i take off.I honestly think her biggest problem is she's scared of a crash...{got hit in 83} and ya can't blame her for that, i guess. Having said all that, it's hard to imagine life without her..if ya find a good one, hang on to her!
Not to one up you, but the wife and I are together for 28 years this past June. Add the 2 years before that and it is a significant amount of time. Relationships go through many different phases and their ups and downs. Raising kids also distracts you from one another, but my wife is my best friend. Some people were meant to be together, others are just biding time till the parting begins.
Try to put things in perspective. If you're argueing about whether to pull the plug on a family member, that's important. If you're argueing about going out with the guys or if she really needed another pair of shoes that's pretty minor. Don't let minor things become blown out of proportion.
I guess you can call me lucky, but my wife and I are pretty different. I like the outdoors she rather stay in. She reads, for me if it doesn't have pictures count me out. Now we do have some things in common, 3 great kids and we both love to ride. Now that our kids are all adults (youngest is 18) and pretty much on their own we have the ability to just up and go. Bought a new bike (love the new Glide) because I got tired of working on the old Norton. It's like dating all over again. Ironically, we have regressed back to the mid '70's when we just used to ride around with each other all over the place.
Think of it this way. Guys can be just as big of a d***head as a woman can be a B****.
I have a question for you that I tried to PM on a different forum but it wouldn't go through. If you could please contact me I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
puddles
Give me a tissue.....This sappy love stuff is tearing me up.....Easy, it was just a joke. I love my wife too!! of six years. First things first....
Puddles....Let's give you a round of applause...hell yeah for doing what you love to do whether it is by yourself, with a man, or with a partner. I'm glad to hear that your standing up for yourself and what you love to do. I always enjoy(and not in a perverted way!!) seeing women riding up on there own bike whether it is alone, with friends, or with a man. That tells me she's a good one who can do stuff on her own...She's got confidence.... Puddles!!You go girl!! BTW my wife is going to take the Rider's edge class in the spring....
JCsr.....I'm with you man....My wife and I are totally different..She grew up playing classical music in high school, college, and in symphonies in major cities ...I grew up drinking beer, hunting, fishing... and other stuff that wasn't so good...But anyway we can still be best friends have great conversation and appreciate the differences... BTW Now I listen to classical music occasionally. I'm a self proclaimed wine expert, and of course I still hunt, fish, and ride...She likes to ride, fish, read..... and it's great... Life would be boring if two people were exactly alike...Wouldn't it?

Thanks jdog
I grew up riding 2 up with my dad. His graduation gift to me was 2 weeks around the eastern US. Have always loved riding. Learned on a 450 and went up from there. Kiddo's grew up riding with me and now have 2 on thier own bikes.
Nothing can replace the wind, the road and a great ride!
btw... are ya'll in St Louis or outside of it? Some GREAT roads out there!! I used to live in Robertsville *btween Eureka and Washington* If I take a trip back 'home' to Minnesnowta next year may swing by that way. I'll wave!
You will know when you meet "Miss Right" but until then "Miss Right Now" will work just fine.
