Last fall someone posted in a thread that they put their fathers watch up on the stem nut. I thought that was a cool idea.
A few months ago my mom gave me some of my dads stuff from his bureau draw..tie clips, cuff links, and watches. (he's passed away) I'm going to take the band off one of the classic analog watches, and place it on top of the stem nut....I figure it's a good way to keep a bit of him with me while riding.
You can laugh all you want but I buy 3 or 4 of those dollar store watches at a time. They last a few months. I pop off the band and use cheap two way tape and attach them to the right gas cap. Easy to see, self lighting, takes a couple seconds to replace with a new one when the battery dies, not permanent, leave no marks, they come in every color on earth to blend in with your bike, and are super useful. Hey, I need to know what time it is and you can't see a watch under a leather coat and gloves!
I epoxy my $ store watch to the big nut on the fork tubes. I only have to replace when I take the nut off or the battery dies. I can't believe how tough those crappy watches are. About the only thing I buy at a $ store now.
