Default Need new cables-what size?

I removed the buckhorns on my lowrider and have installed drag bars.
Going to have to change out the cables as they are ridiculously long.
How do I measure for correct length?

When I change a handlebar I use the old cables as a template.
I detach the clutch and throttle cables at the handlebar controls, change handlebar then route the cable the same way it was originally, by holding the cable up to the controls you then can see how much extra, or in your case, how much less cable you need. By taking the brake line off at the master cylinder you can measure it in the same manner. In some cases the cables and lines are close enough to just do a slight reroute.

Do like Mike described in his post. Once you know the lengths needed, follow this link to go to the H-D P/A Catalog. A PDF file will open.

Now scroll down to page 608, 609 & 610 to find clutch and throttle cable sizes and their part #'s.

For brake lines go to page 612, 613, 614 & 615...
