Default 16 inch apes, what size cables/line?

I've decided to pull the trigger and bump up to some real apes. I most likely will go 16's but I "may" go 14. I have run 14's in the past and I may switch back and forth. So I need cables and lines that are long enough for at least the 16's. How much PLUS SIZE in inches do you guys run? Is 6 over enough or do I need to run 8's? Please advise. Close up pics of your setups would be great to give me insight to bar style, cable choice (black vs braided), running internal and turn signal relocation. Thanks

I got +8's on my fxdc with 14" apes, get 10's? try to get a nice arc. Get a wire and run the length you like then measure, going bigger is always better than to small?

Thanks for quick reply. I went out at lunch and threw a set of 12 incher's on just for reference. With some creative wiring was able to run the stock wiring, but I had to lift the tank and pull the slack out. Wiring is easy to solder, extend and shrink wrap when the time comes. My brake hose was a 4 over already so I just got it on the 12's safely. Its gonna need at least 4-6 more with taller bars, and the throttle cables I just bent down for the meantime. The clutch cable was the real problem, it is just too short. Just to get it to work I had to pop it out of the keepers. It needs to be longer NOW! I agree that 10 over would be correct for the clutch cable as well. Better safe than sorry I guess. Heres a couple pics of the 12's on the bike. I'm going to start ordering cables as soon as I decide on black or braided. Thats gonna be the toughest call.

Burly has a kit for $199 that has cables, brake line and wiring extension. I have their kit for 16", it seems a bit long but works fine. Hope this helps.

Damn, that burly kit is exactly what I need. Great tip! I thought they just made lowering kits. Thanks.

edit: damn it.... I just noticed they only make their kits for 98 UP Dyna's. I have a '96.
