LOL, not that is not the reason for justification. It's the thought of trying to come up with something that won't make it look like a 2 year old sprayed it with the cans I have laying around in the garage... aaaaand, the money put towards paint could also be used for upgrades for the engine/exhaust.

I'm not sure if this information will help you or not but I thought I'd share just in case.

With the solid mount Evo Sportsters (1995-2003) we were stuck with 130 rear tires too. Same issue. The fender was wide enough for a 150 but the belt would hit the tire.

So someone came up with a spacer (3/8") that bolts between the rear pulley and rear wheel. We bolt that in to our tire, spread the swing arm slightly using a scissor jack, and the 150 tire fits no problem. We just put in a couple 2mm spacers between the stock pulley side axle spacer and the swing arm to give a little more clearance between the pulley and the swingarm.

Here's a link to the spacer:

Awesome, thank you for the idea. BTW, nice looking bikes, not really sporty fan but it looks real good.

Here is some info that may help, as i have looked into this for some time,Dyna first came out with the 150 tire in 2001 on the FXDX and FXDX-T, then in 2002 all dynas have a 150 tire stock. I wanted to put a 2001 wideglide rear fender on my 2002 FXD, well the 2001 fender was 1/2 too narrow.Making it a very tight fit.

I am assuming you meant a 1/2"? So that means I would have about 1/4" overlap on each side... might be worth it to squeeze that puppy in there. They do make conversion kits but I am not pay about a thousand less for that than I did my bike. Definitely going to be an interesting project this winter. Thank you.

One thing to keep in mind when going with a wider tire.....The swing arm is rubber mounted with the trans and does move side to side slightly. So...If you only have a 1/4" or less clearance between the tire and fender or bolts, they may rub.

Yeah, the more i think about this, the more I am thinking I might just have to buy another bike and frankenbike this one.

What ever came of the "Ex-con" project you were working on? Saw the finished pics, very slick bike btw, but how does ride?
