Gas Tank Questions

I have a 2004 fxdxi Superglide. and it has a dent from origonal owner. the question i have is, will a carberated tank work on it? if not where's a good place for an oem replacement.

Ditto on the Ebay idea. I replaced my tank and fins off of ebay got a great deal and they look great.

The quick answer to your question is yes, the tanks are the same. Check part numbers, they're no different. I changed the tank out when I had my '04 FXD and snagged a perfect tank off of E-bay for it seems like $100.00. Great place to look for parts, just make sure they're in good condition, a scratch here or there is no big deal, but any other damage, keep looking, one will turn up.

The Dynas have used 3 tanks from 2004 to 2010.

Tank 1 = FXD, FXDX, FXDC, ‘07 FXDSE
Tank 2 = FXDB, FXDL, ‘08 FXDSE, '10 FXDWG
Tank 3 = FXDWG to '08, ‘06 FXDI35, ‘07+ FXDC, ‘08+ FXDF, '09+ FXDFSE

All the tanks will mount to the bike.
The consoles and speedos won't mount to every tank.

Tank 1 has no speedo spot.

Tank 2 is the smaller tank and uses the 4 inch speedo.

Tank 3 is the larger tank and uses the 5 inch speedo.

The WG used tank 3 through '08. When it was brought back in '10, it went with tank 2.

There has been discussion in a change in one of the newer tanks because of a part number change.
