Default Seat Question

I am going to get a Mustang solo seat for my 05 FXDC. Is the wide seat or the regular width the way to go? I'm not a big guy so I was thinking the regular width may be fine. No one has them in stock locally so I can't check them out in person. Any thoughts?

I'm sure that no matter how you cut it, the wide one's going to be a little more comfortable. However, in saying that, I opted for the Vintage Solo with pillion for my two up riding and feel the comfort is top notch. I know a lot of people swear by their wides. But I've seen a few members here recently opt for the not so large standard Vintage size and still be happy with their purchase.

FWIW, my pant size is 34/34...and the vintage fits me well. But I'm sure the wide would feel even better. Couldn't take the looks of it though.

i just bought a wide solo with drivers backrest after having the narrow vintage and also thought it would look too large on the bike, ive now changed my tune as i dont think it looks bad at all, even if it did i wouldnt change it because of the comfort factor![ps i got no butt so that wasnt an issue-5'7" 165]ps i bought it to ride not to look at just an added bonus if it looks good!

I have the wide solo on my bike even though it does look a little bulky I like it better than the normal width seat.

Measure your butt....

Everyone has a different opinion... corbin for example makes fairly hard but resilient seats, saddleman makes softer seats. Some like it wide, some not so much.

On long trips, I can sit on pretty much anything.. but if I can get a back rest, or something to lean against - it makes all the difference.

For what it's worth, I bought the wide. I like it, it beats the stock seat, but I have no other comparisons to make.

My passenger was also given a wide, but the two seats are separate, so I can take her's off in a minute. She's never complained about comfort, either.

As for looks, to me the wide seat just looks better. It just has a look that says "comfort", plus it keeps my buttocks in place. When you build a bike, the last thing you want is to be sliding off the seat when you nail second or third gear. The steeper incline of the seat's back gives me something to nestle into. The stock seat, with it's smoother contours, could hardly keep me in place with the stock engine.
