Default scotchbrite?

So i have been seeing a lot of people" scotchbriting" their parts to look like the fat boy lo's "denim chrome." so i was just curious on the process...seems interesting

I don't it's so much "satin chrome" as it is brushed aluminum.

It's not really irreversible, you could just hand polish it like poor kids do to wheels....look it up

IYAM, the Fat Boy Low came out to copy the brushed look guys were doing rather than the other way around (I know, chicken/egg). I actually don't like that powdercoat on the Low...scuffed chrome looks much better IMO. Nothing to it really...just don't go too deep and keep the grain in the same direction.

so is that all u do? use a scotchbrite pad to take it down to bare aluminum? couldn't u just use aerosol paint stripper for the same effect? and if thats the case do you put some clear coat or sealant over it so it dos not rust? thanks for the replies thus far by the way! always find this site helpful

Aluminum doesn't rust. It oxidizes.
