Default motor mount question

I have a 2011 Street bob. The front motor mount seems to have settled down. The service manual says there should be at least .030" gap between engine bracket and rubber. I have a bad vibration, and it seems to be getting worse. Could it be this mount? Dealer says it looks good, "just excess rubber on the mount. no problem". I was going to check to see if it needed shimmed, but I think the mount is bad. Any advise would be great. Thanks

looks bottemed out to me...even if it is excess rubber its not isolating like its supposed to
if its contacting the bracket... will cause more than normal vibration

I would change the mount then put the shims in. It's only $100 bucks. Or since it's under warranty and see if they will honor after you show them it's fixed if they won't do it for you.

Here's the difference between my old and new mount just this last OCT. I put the shims back in for hopes of the mount lasting longer then 9900 miles.

wattsup- I fabbed up that sissy bar nad had it powdered.
This bike only has 1000 miles on it. I don't mind spending $100, if it will help it. But I'd rather the dealer pay

I know there was something on that mount being updated compared to what comes form the dealer on the bike. Funny thing is I bought the mount from the dealer and that's the difference you see. I think in my thread I posted above I annotated the part number because that was the difference between old and new. I would rather have the dealer pay for it as well, but sometime they are just tools!!

Tell that lazy M*****f***er to replace your mount because they don't put "excess rubber" on the F***ing mounts since it is a molded piece of rubber and the mold stays the same size every time they make a new one.

Ask that dumb *** if he ever got 21 cigarettes in a pack or 17 ounces of beer in a bottle...I hate bullshit like that....Ok rant over

Push the dealer to replace it. Remind him the part is NOT a "Motor Mount" it is called a "Front Isolator" .

If it is touching a part of the frame then it is not doing the job it was designed to do which is "Isolate" the motor from the frame to reduce vibrations.

The dealers know this is an issue but hate admitting its a problem because they can go bad quick. I had my 2nd "Front Isolator" fail after less then 1000 miles. They tried to blame the failure on my Stage 1 upgrade. I then pushed even harder to replace that one and they finally agreed.

On the 3rd mount I had them grind the rubber hump down about 1/4 inch. The 3rd (modified) "Front Isolator" has performed well and has been "Isolating" the motor for almost 12,000 miles.
