My new detachable saddlebag!
So I went to the local hardware store and picked up a 1/8"x2"x3' piece of flat bar, a 3/16"x1.5"x3' piece of flat bar, 1/4-20x2" screws, nuts and 1" washers.
Using my detachable sissy bar as a semi-guide. I started to hack away at the 1/8" flat bar until I got the end result. And I will tell you it was not fun because I only had a hack saw, file set and drill/set to use, but it did let me get allot of aggrevation out of my system.
For the locking mechinism I used a HD detachable locking system just like on the sissy bar, that I got off an old sportster detach plate I also had in the shed.
All I need to do know is clean it up and coat it.
Anyway, here are the pics of the results.

I had to reverse the mount and come in from the bottom because the bag wouldn't clear the sig.
I want to install the new LED fender tail light and use LED pods for the turn sigs to clean up the back some. My plate is my biggest obsticle right now!

The only thing holding bags onto bike is the plastic locking device.
Bar should be solid across the top, with the locking tab swinging up from underneath.
Look at your original sketch on the plate, thats how it should be.
Might still be OK, but would make me nervous.
As far as the size, I think they are 12-13" front to back and top to bottom and 6" deep. Not very big, but enough for a couple of shirts, socks and tighty whites.
Thanks for all the compliments everyone!
