How difficult to switch tanks?
I have a 2008 super glide. I will be getting a new tank due to some unforseen circumstances. Any idea how hard it would be to put on a new tank where I can mount my speedo and dash? Such as purchasing a tank from a custom or low... Most of you know the super glide has it speedo on the bars. I like the look on the tank. I am not worried about the ignition which is located on the side but it would be nice to clean up the bars and have a normal tank with screw on gas caps. Thanks for any help fellas.

Easy. Two bolts and a couole of clips. Draining the tank is the hardest part and you will spill gas, so do it outside. Shop ebay or Craigslist to see what you can pick up cheap. Lots of Dyna parts to be had. Depends on which dash panel you want. There are some cool mods for adding a Fat Bob dash and moving the switch to the tank on this forum. If you can't locate them, PM me and I'll shoot you the link.
dont forget about moving your fuel pump which is located in the tank. I switched out everything on my 06 streetbob (just swapped for different color) just follow service manal and take your time its not too bad

I did the same thing to my 05 fxdxi, went to a fxdl dash. Pretty simple, new wiring harness, gauge cups, dash, swap the fuel pump, and presto. The gauge and new wiring harness is just plug and play, probably the easiest thing ive done to mine.
But be careful removing and reinstalling the fuel pump, be sure not to bend the fuel float arm in anyway, or your fuel gauge wont read correctly. Its a tight fit, just take your time.

Thanks. Yea the more I look into it I feel like it is something I can accomplish. My problem will be finding the tank I need i think. I have the next couple months off from work so time should not be a problem but it still won't be super easy. The threads on other tank switches vary so much but I just need to do more research. Some seem super difficult, others not so bad. I don't want a tach and i don't have one so that is one less thing to worry about. Correct me if I am wrong but I need a fatbob or custom tank. Esentially what I want to do have my speedo where my gas cap is and just move the gas cap. Easy to visualize probably harder in reality.
