Default Wet roads/spray/leggings..

Dyna front ends have a small fender, which looks cool, but doesn't offer much protection from road spray. If I'm on the road and it comes a heavy downpour, I usually pull under an awning somewhere, let it pass, then get back on the road. Every time this happens, my jeans get soaked from the knees down. I have a pair of chaps, but I never use them. In cold weather I've found that long johns under jeans works well enough to keep the cold off me, and chaps would be way too hot in summer (chaps for sale cheap.)

Has anyone tried, or had experience with gaiters or leggings to keep the spray off? Any recommendations? On a multi day trip, wet clothes suck, and something small like leggings wouldn't take up too much space in a saddle bag. Advice appreciated.

LOL - Sorry, that made me laugh.

Regardless, I understand what you are saying. I am getting a slightly larger fender for more coverage on mine. However, even with chaps you will still get rain water down the tank and into the crotch.

It's a motorcycle.

If you'll read the post, it's not for protection in the rain, and I'm not interested in chaps. It's for the wet road after it rains.

I think you will find that no matter how big a fender you put on your bike you will still experience some lateral spray from the tires as well as some residual spray from other vehicles driving on the wet roads. If leggings take up too much room in your bags. The only real solution would be not to ride.

Harley actually makes boot covers that slip right over the boots and almost up the knee - just for that very reason.

I have used gaiters a few times and they have worked well. However, I had my rain pants on too. I leave my rain suit and gaiters in my saddlebags. Gaiters alone definately will help keep your lower legs drier and warmer.
Also, gaiters will help keep your boots drier. The HD boot covers would help too I expect. As I also hike and cross country ski I use my gaiters a lot. One set of goretex gaiters for many uses.

I live in Germany and it ALWAYS rains. I have a pair of these leg gators you're talking about (sorry, can't call 'em leggings). They slip over your boot, snap/velcro in the back, and come just up to my knees. They pack down to about the size of a softball. Most of the time, that's all I need on wet roads. I've about worn them out since I ride to work most of the time, and the Air Force felt it a good idea to switch from black leather boots to these goofy green suede boots. It looks ridiculous, but keeps the boots and pants dry!

I feel your pain here. I hate the green boots! I'm gunna at least keep my tan boots as long as they'll let me. HAHA!

I need to find the boot covers to help keep the black from my shift **** off my boots though. Chief looks at me strange every time he sees my boots. HAHA.

I haven't used gaitors but I feel your pain on the wet legs. I am stationed in Hawaii right now and it rains every day here. So, I get wet any time I ride. Just one more thing you get used to in order to just ride.
