I want to buy a set of throw over saddlebags for my 2011 SG Custom but I don't want to move my rear turn signals. I am looking for tha largest bag that will fit without having to move signals....can anyone offer any suggestions or better yet suggestions and pics.....Thanks in advance!
Don't do throw overs, you'll have to put a towel or sheep skin between the strap and fender to stop paint wear. I bought easy brackets and leather bags from leather works. No pic's but I didn't have to move my tail lights and they're more forward than yours. Not the largest bags, but not small.
There's a thread somewhere around here showing someones new bags that mount to the strut. They're angled for the suspension, don't require a tail light relocation, and they look nice.
I went ahead and moved my lights and went with HD synthetiics for Dyna. They're big, they don't warp or rot, and look nice. Not once have I looked at my bike and wished for smaller saddlebags. I do weekends two up, haul groceries, commute, and the more storage I have, the better.
That's the one. If you visit the website, they make some pretty big claims about storage capacity (number of beverage cans that will fit in the bag.) Pretty useful if they have that capacity.
there is a review I did on the easy brackets, Throw overs are horrible in comparison if you do alot of riding they slide around dont look good and scratch your paint up.
Those bags that are pictured were originally on my bike as throw overs there hot leathers not sure what model but I will find out, They worked without relocating the tail lights but I bought a cycle visions liscense plate bracket with integrated turn sigs when I did the easy brackets.
I personally am not a fan of throw overs but I run them due to the cost factor for now. I aquired a set of Kustom Khrome Bag brackets and still have my signals . I run the Tourmaster Medium Slant bags. I also layed down some 3m Clear protectant vinyl on the rear fender for protect. However I plan on getting some hard bags once the funds appear.
