Default Impatience is a B**CH

Call it a sign of the times, call it impatience, call it what you will. But when a week goes by after ordering my Thunderheader exhaust from Direct Harley Parts and it still hasnt shipped, yet they billed me day one, and no contact has been made, i am starting to get frustrated.

Whats strange about this is i remember when you had to go to a local indy and look through a book and he called around and you were lucky to get it in within a few weeks or 2 months and you always paid retail price.

Oh well, have to love internet customer service right? Customer is always first. or 12,365th or whatever order they put you in......

As a matter of fact let me put a tidbit in here about A GOOD experience i had yesterday to counterbalance the bad one.

Ordered a solo bag from badgcustoms. Let me tell you. Grig knows what customer service is. Ordered my bag yesterday afternoon, and within an hour he emailed me back confirming everything i had ordered with a promise he would have the bag made and shipped before the weekend. Now thats good business. If it takes that bag an extra few days to ship, i wouldnt mind now, because he let me know immediately that i was top priority. Thats what we all want to hear right?

So yeah rant over. yeah this maybe should have gone in the other forums but both parts were for the Dyna so here it went!

have you used them (Direct Harley Parts) before? when i'm buying from a vendor for the first time, i always contact them to 'check availability' or whatever before i order. mostly just to get a rise out of them and see how responsive they are. of course, many vendors will advertise stuff for sale that they don't have, so checking availability in advance is not a bad idea in itself. good luck...

I know what you mean. Patience is one thing I do not possess... When the big guy was passing out patience I told him to keep them, I did not want to be a Dr anyways...

Yeah it makes you wonder how many different ordering/shipping scenarios there are out there. Ever order from Zappos? No matter what shipping method you chose they always seem to upgrade to priority at no charge and product arrives sometimes the next day...

One week is nothing when it comes to internet shopping. I try to order all of my parts 2-3 months in advance. Example: found a set of tires for my OL's Lexus in January on line from some obscure dealer in Cali that were priced $200 cheaper than anywhere else. So knowing she will need tires this summer I bought them. Took 6 weeks to get them and now I think the price was a mistake and the dealer was jerking me to get me to reject the sale. But I held firm and now have them sitting in the garage...2 days ago the OL runs over an anchor bolt in the road and BAM blowout on the old tires. So, now I am ready.

I'll be doing brake pads on all 3 cars this fall...so I'll start shopping on line for all of the parts any time. When I hit the free ship limit I'll add oil filters and air filters as well.

Take your time and get the discount.

Nice. Never heard that one. I always got the "When God was passing out brains, you thought he said trains, and said 'No thanks. I don't like loud noises.'"

Back on topic: Yep...Online orders get my blood going sometimes. It's the nature of the beast. Lots of middle men out there. A weeks not bad though.

As far as I know, that is an original that I made up after being told I have no patience many times....

Thankfully i did order a month in advance. As long as i get them before the 1st week of May im really ok. Wont take me an hour to throw them on and re program the tuner. I knew that placing the order, however as soon as i placed the order i got impatient and want them now! Well the wife does to actually, cause as soon as they get in im pulling off my exhaust and getting them powdercoated and put on her bike. So she has stake in this to!

I used DHP once....I bought my +4 advance gear from them. Sent me the wrong part and when I called to get it replaced the guy debated me on it, and basically wouldn't ship me the correct gear I ordered. I'd never use them again after that.

I did buy my TH from American Classic Motors. I think it was 6-8 days, at my door.
