Default Throttle cruise assist?

I know this has been asked before but there weren't many responses so I'm trying it myself. I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge and/or opinions about cruise assist? I have been looking on line at the BreakAway Cruise Control and the Kuryakyn Cruise-Mate throttle cruise assist. This would be for my 2008 FXDL.

Hi! I looked at that also. Has a long list of disclaimers, "for safety reasons". It's very similar to the stock throttle assist you have now, with the exception being that its mounted at the end of the throttle grip, similar to a "bar-end weight".

What I do/did is I have a "wide Cramp-Buster" which is basically a palm assist for your throttle and then I use the standard thumb screw with just enough friction so I can manually move it to off. This allows just enough assist to ease the right hand numbness.

Caveat!!! I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH THE INHERIT DANGER OF A THROTTLE SCREW. YOU FORGET AND YOU GET IN TRAFFIC YOU BASICALLY HAVE A 'RUN AWAY MOTORCYCLE' WHICH CAN BE A DEATHTRAP TO YOU AND OTHER MOTORIST.

There's one advertized in AIM that is a 1/4 turn lever that's easily operated with a gloved hand, "ON/OFF".

I don't use one, but a couple of friends have these and swear by them.

I have one called Cruise-mate. It's a handy little gadget that I use for short periods of time. It's nice to be able to give your throttle hand a break every now and again. It doesn't completely lock the throttle so if you're in a panic you can still turn the grip.

I use both a palm assist and a cheap thumb switched "cruise control". I use them both. The latter really comes in handy when I have to adjust the mirrors, tighten my helmet, or click buttons on my Dakota Digital. On the long stretches it also allows me to rest my hand for a bit.

The only downside is that when wearing winter gloves it spaces my hand out far enough to make hitting the turn signal switch a bit more of a stretch.

If you can afford it, get the real thing. Electronic cruise control on my Heritage is by far my favorite upgrade.

The last time I searched, real cruise control wasn't available for Dynas. Anyone else find one?
