Keeping the pipes a little cooler might be a by-product if it in fact does, but the primary purpose is sound baffling. Baffling wrap may actually hold in the heat, never conducted any tests.

 

ok, see i thought the same thing. i know fiber glass hoods get very hot whenr the turbo sits on top mount cars and it takes forever to cool off. thanks for the info. im just going to put some baffles in and call it good.

 

As I took them of they were starting to pass thru the holes of the baffles so ....
