Default Wrapped baffle

What's the use of the wrap around the baffles, I guess they play a role in backpressure or just to let less sound coming out ?

It mutes the sound by absorbing some of the spikes in the sine wave.

It quiets the exhaust as stated before. I used to have to repack my offroad race bike mufflers every once in a while when they got too loud.

As others stated, but more to the point, it allows you to customize the sound. You can play with different types and numbers of wraps to get the sound you want. Just don't over do it or you can create problems.

The main reason I asked is because this winter I customised some baffles to fit in the stock exhaust. theyre was a thread on this the gary7 mod or something like that. When I did it I let the whool inside because some condensation formed inside and some slight rust kept the whool togheter and was a pain in the a+ss to remove so I let it there. But then after I've done that i've read that after a couples of mile it might spit it out , so I wonder If that's gotta happen, I should just remove them.

I would never use steel wool if that is what you are saying. Personally I think stove rope is the best wrap.

It's the wrapping that was already there its more like the green scrub to wash the plates and glasses.

If theyre bound to pop out i'll remove them, if the use is only sound restriction.

are we all sure its only sound muffling? becuse my dad just made a good point, could it maybe also be there for heat purposes? like to keep the pips a lil cooler? just a thought. i just got back into town and have the pies all apart, so i was just wondering. if its just to uffle sound ima take it out and put in some new baffles. also, does anyone have any experiance with the custom chrome short baffles? just wondering. thanks.
