What is their volume? For comparison the bags on my adv bike are 45L - each.

I use a MSR ***** Hubba 3 person tent for two or the Hubba-Hubba two person for one: tent capacities apparently ise midgets.
which packs real small and is short enough for almost any saddlebag. Folded pole length is the "gotcha" when buying a tent for an MC, as many cheaper ones are too long and have to go crossways somewhere else.

GI poncho liner in lieu of sleeping bag in summer: use a riding jacket line if it's cold or for a pillow. Coleman backpack multi-fuel stove you you can use gasoline. And wear something like Under Armor or other synthetic underwear: easier to wash, more comfortable in rain and dries fast.

I don't skimp on a thick self-inflating air bed. Air mattresses fold up smaller but are miserable if it's cold.

Advrider.com and youtube both have examples. There's some guy in the UK with a BMW 1200GS who packs enough stuff for a two week wilderness trip and has room to spare - amazing, but $$$.

My sig pic is a pic of my bike loaded down for Sturgis last year. I overpacked a bit, but it was a 2 week trip and first long one for me on the bike. I was very comfotable the entire trip.

Lots of good info here for ya... But here is another.

Strap a sleeping bag above your headlight or between your bars. This will act like a windshield and also give you another mounting option for sleeping bags.

Even some throwover bags could get you by... But that side mount plate is the kicker. Could you remove the bracket and mount the plate to your saddlebag? If the brake light is mounted there that may not be an option.

Good idea about between the bars. When Ii run wih my shield on distance trips, I tend to store my chaps up there!

I don't know what the weather will be like where you are going, but have you though about not taking a tent and just sleeping under the stars? Also. some camp sites have cabins or hillary tents you can rent as well. It would be one less thing to pack.

I just carry a sleeping bag but some parks won't let you camp without at least a tent.

definately gonna throw one on the bars. and as far as the tag/brake goes.

my tag is side mount now. and break is on rear fender. but i have a new fender that should be done any day. it will have no holes or light. so i bought another side mount plate with a light on it. theres where the kink comes in..

but i have always liked the saddle bag on one side and have often considered mounting one up. detachable of course.

so many options. it stinks when u have it all going one way then gotta swap it up to make it more practical.

LOL - That's why I went the practical way first! I have a whole other Street Bob in mind the day I get a bagger...
