Like others have shared on this forum, my 09 Bob has developed stress cracks on my rear fender by my sparto taillight...it looks like Harley will replace my rear fender but I want the dealership to remove the light when they install the new fender. I eventually will have the holes filled and painted but does anyone have a temporary fix until I'm able to have that done? perhaps some kind of decal? Thanks
What's this about stress fractures in the rear fender? Is this a known issue to HD?
Is this something I should watch for on my 2011 Street Bob?
I first read about it on a thread in this forum...I had a loud rattle coming from my rear fender...I thought it was my license plate coming loose, so I relocated the plates...rattling continued...after reading the thread I took a look at my rear fender and sure as $hi@ I had fractures on both sides of my sparto taillight...it was hard for me to see at first because I have pinstriping exactly where the fractures are...from what I read, this problem is somewhat common on bobs with the sparto taillight...some guys attribute the problem to the position and weight of the taillight as well to the way the license plate hangs from the the taillight on stock bobs...who knows...I'm not expecting Harley to do anything about it anytime soon

So... the fix then is either to go with a lighter tail light, remove it all together, or constantly have to fix the rear fender?
I am waiting on my second replacement fender for my 10 SB. I have also contacted HD with my concerns about this. At any rate I look at either I will continue to replace fenders or change to a different fender.

I just bought an 2010 bob fender with light etc to fit on my 07 bob...can't be happening on all short 2009 up fenders surely (best I hang on to my original just in case ...
