After a 'short' break from owning and riding, I finally got an '11 WideGlide in the garage. So far, the only mods have been to pull the worthless stock slip-ons off and have the Screamin' Eagle slip-ons put on. And with the weather the way it's been lately, after 2 weeks, i've only managed to get about 100 miles on her. I'm following the FXDWG mods thread closely, looking for ideas for my new obsession.
First thing i'm looking for is a seat replacement. Seems that the 'significant other' thinks her *** is wider than the 8" pillion that comes stock. Any suggestions?
Congratulations...I just picked up a brand new WideGlide also.
I also went with the Screamin Eagle Slip-ons and they are a bit on the quiet side for me.
I wanted some rumble without the noise.
Ride Safe... I just picked mine about two months ago. Just sent out a few parts including the exhust for powder coating. I can't wait to get them back!
If you want to be a hero to the wife, get her a Corbin Dual Tour. Add a back rest when you need to get out of the dog house. You'll be a prince among men.
As for the Screaming Eagle slip ons, they suck IMO. If you are going want sound they are not much louder then stock. Someone in the past on this site had the their bike dynoed and it didn't give squat for performance either.
I'm on my second set of SE slip-ons (first were crunched in an accident) and . . . they are definitely louder than stock. Considerably, especially the newest one. Just loud enough for me.
Congrats on the new bike. I had rush slipons for about 500 miles. Once this years riding season started i realized they were just to quiet. I put on a set of V&H Big Shots. Much better. But hey to each to own. Many agree the stock pipes do nothing for the bike.
