Default StreetBob to WideGlide Front End Conversion.. Need Advise

Hey,

Have a 2008 Wideglide frontend here. My Streetbob is 2007. Want to put dual front brakes in when I do the switch. Anybody here use a Fatbob right tube to make the changeover?

I'm thinking since my midglide hub (streetbob) is already dual rotor capable, with the proper spacing it will work. Also, from what I hear a Fatbob is a Wideglide front end with dual rotors.

Apart from 2008 up calipers, an 11/16 brake cylinder, an additional rotor and the right fork slider, what else will I need? Thanks,

HeltS

I think there is a difference in the fender mount on the Fat Bob slider that makes it incompatible with your Street Bob slider ... (you'll have to 'hog out' the holes for the fender on one side or the other ... not a symetrical bolt up) ... also, not sure what year they went from 1" to 25mm axle ... better check to ensure you don't have one slider for a 1" axle and the other side 25mm ....

Sorry I can't give specific advice or data ... but, just wanted to highlight some potential pitfalls to be wary of ....

Hey,
Thanks for the replies. If it wasn't clear, I am putting the wideglide frontend on in place of the standard Street bob mid glide frontend. I like the wide look and have a 120/21 that will be laced to my stock hub.

SurfORChop thanks: the axle changed by .4mm between 2007 and 2008.

Next year I will probably go with that metz 140/21 and want duals mainly to be save. TBH I also like the look and holeshot/ride it like I stole it pretty much all the time.

HeltS

I'll do a search for last saint.. thks, DD73

I wouldnt see a problem using BOTH Fatbob lowers on the Wideglide 49mm top tubes....From there I would have Blackbike Wheels build a 21x3.5 front wheel with Fatbob hub specs. This would utilize a Fatbob axle and triple trees as well..

I run a 21 x 3.5 front with a 120 wide tire and the StreetBob fender is enough coverage for a 120 front tire...

Can someone confirm if the Fatbob Triple trees are the same width as a Wideglide??

FB and WG trees are not the same..WG trees are raked 2 degrees, FB are 0 degees. Not certain but you could probably use WG trees and 49mm tubes wit FB sliders to get what you want.

fatbob trees are in fact wideglide width trees. 8541hog is correct that the wideglide trees are raked, but, the width is the same.
Helterskelter.....you will most likely need both right and left fatbob lowers. the lower left is a different part # than a streetbob as I believe the brake mount is a little different in location. Also possibly the front fender as well unless you want to run sans fender or modify yours. From what I recall, 2008 was the year of the change from 1" axle to a 25mm one. So, assuming you have an 08 or newer axle for the front, just make sure you get the proper size bearings in your wheels.

I have a Jireh 21 here. The plan is to use my SB hub and spokes then space the rotors. Will buy the appropriate front axle.

Rounder
Have you had one of these apart? Got any idea if the internals the same? AFMM3 gave me a little info on his SB Dresser conversion but I'm still in the dark about some of this.

Thanks,
HeltS

internals between the fatbob and streetbob will be the same. The wideglide forks are longer in the sliders and the damper tube.
