Hell yeah joe, thats gonna look bad ***!!! This brings me back to the days i was into car audio... If you havent got the bass blockers i have some collecting dust in the garage (dont know range at this time). Is the 6x9's gonna offer you enough low end for you tastes, i wonder if those polks come with crossovers??? that would eleminate the need for a bass blocker.
hell ya! hell ya... what sony head unit did you run, i like the idea of the ones that store it inside... yes i want to french it right above the stereo location... XM... man i did not even think of that! way better idea... think i am going to do the same. ill have to order the ribon antenna over ebay today, thanks for the tips! the drawing was perfect i get what your saying now...
Shim i shoudl be golden on the bass blockers, i an only going to use them on the 3.5's in the bags, the 6x9 i am going with are these: DB691
they are 3 way marine grade 6x9 with a 100 watt RMS, i will also run speaker boots behind them for a bit better lows
the amp i am going to stuff in there on top of the head unit (still not decided on what headunit) is Pyle PLMR400... will give me a 4x100 so that should be plenty! i am stoaked
but last night i came across this : the dimensions would be great for the fairing...so i am kind of leaning this way now: Pyle (PLMRMP3A) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
any sugestions would be great... the bss blockers come with the polk audio 3.5 so i should be good on them. let me knw what you think about this set up

Ryan - really nice job ... looks great ... the anti-street glide ....
Joe - you thought about taking the dremel cutting wheel to the center of the inner fairing and just 'glassing' up your own custom dash solution ...? That way you could mount the 7" full-on "mother-of-all" navigation/audio systems ... I think you could make it killer ....
Your preliminary mock up looks good ... you're gonna love it ...!
I think that Sony sytem is the DSX-S300BTX ... series ... the unit is satellite radio ready and all blue toothy, too ....

Todd i would love to... but... that will prob be the winter project for next year when i tear down to coat my frame... i want to get this sucker on there... may be a "good enough" version this round and in the winter i can go nuts with glass... but yes 100% i was looking at that last night. i am going to get the brackets made up and it mounted so i can see what i am working with. problem is wiht those big units there is the box and then the brain. the brain tends to be huge as wiht the main box for the double din unit i may not have the room to run a large amp in there and those heads really have low power push... we will see where we go from here thanks for the idea though i may run with that before all is over. i contacted MidnightEvil on here, he does paint mixing to see if he can color match my powder work to see what optins i have on that
Looks really nice Joe. I hope you can get a paint match on the blue. What color visor are you going to go with (clear, black, blue)?
I was looking into getting a detachable fairing but I spent my Spring/Summer mod money on a a leather HD Tour Pak. I'm FINALLY going to finsh that detachable system I talked about in January. I have all the pieces now, I just need to fab a way to connect the tour pak onto the detachable seat bracket (and make it look good).
I really, really want to upgrade my bars too, but that might have to wait a while.
The stereo I went with was the Sony DSX100. It's great not having to connect the ipod through a cable and find a spot to mount the ipod. When the ipod is connected, you just use the stereo buttons to control it. Or you can just load up some mp3's on a thumb drive and stick it inside the radio and control it through the radio.
While the one i have is great, you should also consider one of the stereos with bluetooth. Especially if you have Iphone or other smartphone that you use for your music. You can actually just leave it in your pocket. Plus, if you're just hanging out and wanna listen to some tunes, you've got full control of your stereo right on your phone up to 30' feet from your bike.
I got the Dual XHD7714 bluetooth stereo from Best Buy for like $70 on sale. it might not be the greatest stereo but for the money and to put on a golf cart, it was well worth it.
Another advantage i see of the bluetooth over the Sony is that when you have the iphone plugged in using the usb port on the Sony, you can only use the ipod function. So if you like listening to Pandora or the like, you're stuck plugging the iphone in via the aux cable. Plus, not that you could really do it on a motorcycle, the cheap Dual stereo from Best Buy actually lets you talk on your phone through your stereo.
