Small sissy bar bag
I want to add a small sissy bar bag to my "HD short" sissy bar.
I like the looks of the Fox Creek products and have their tool bag.

Anyone have one of these or similar? I know any kind of bag will take away from a bikes looks, but are these sissy bar bags really ugly on a bike? I dont see many on bikes so am a little worried many have tried them out and tossed them. I just want one to carry small items around in: bottles of water, phone, glasses, snack etc.
Cheers.
One issue I had with it was keeping the strap tight around the backrest pad. I tried various approaches to solve this problem until I removed the backrest pad and ran the strap between it and the sissy bar. I reinstalled the pad and the strap has held tight since. Placing the strap between the backrest pad and sissy bar also hides the belt and gives you a cleaner look.
Inside the bag, the strap is held "tight" by 2 D-rings. I laced the strap thru the D-rings and then knotted the loose end of the strap with the knot as close to the D-rings as I could to further prevent loosening.
The bag is ideal for what I listed above. It you plan on taking a trip, you will need saddlebags or something larger.
I currently do not have any pictures of the bike after the winter's projects, but I can quickly take some of the bag on my bike if it's helpful....let me know.
Thanks for the info. I was thinking of the regular sized heavy duty bag. I think this is even smaller than the Auburn. I wanted the smaller one since I only have the HD Short sissy bar backrest. Wondering which way to go now. If you did have time to post a picture of your setup Id really appreciate it.
Thanks man.

I took a number of photos of my bike, including lots of them showing Fox Creek's Auburn bag. All of the photos can be seen at

There's even a photo of the inside of the bag showing how I knotted the loose end of the strap to help prevent it from loosening.
I also changed my profile picture so you can get a quick view of how the sissy bar bag looks on my bike.
I agree with bikelaw's comments that some bags, especially those from Fox Creek or other high-quality sources, can add a lot to your bike's overall appearance.
Fox Creek also makes some great looking saddlebags specifically for Dynas. The contour of the bag lines up perfectly with the angle of the shock, giving the bike a nice, clean look, plus the storage you need when taking a trip. I plan on buying a set of these soon.
Hope my photos and comments helped you.....

The first is a small fork bag mounted just above the headlight, where I carry a bunch of small items that I always keep with me (helmet lock, extra contact lenses, etc.). The mounting location is key, as I also pack my EZ-Pass tag inside the front of the bag, facing out. I found that toll booth scanners are able to read it through the bag, which is great and I don't have to have some unsightly tag holder somewhere. You can see a pic of that bag in my signature pic.
The second is a small solo saddle bag I picked up from Lick's. I use it for sunglasses, phone, small rain jacket...whatever small items I need for the day. I love this thing. It's small, and mounts in an inconspicuous and otherwise useless area of the bike. It mounts low, on the swingarm on the left side of the bike. It tucks away in between the passenger peg and the stock side-mount license plate, running the length of the exposed swingarm from the passenger peg mount to the rear axle. Bag is well made, and durable. It really hangs no lower than your primary housing, so dragging shouldn't be a problem unless you have a significantly lowered rear. You can see a pic of what it looks like here: http://www.lickscycles.com/newcmsima...1265121144.jpg
Just another option for you. I personally don't like putting bags on and off all the time, and my preference is that I don't like large bags, so I have these small ones on permanently in locations that don't bother me. I rarely do multiple day trips, so it works for me.

many thanks for the feedback and ideas.
After scratching my head and looking at all the photos, I pulled the trigger on a Fox Creek Heavy duty sissy bag. Its just a tad smaller than their standard bags so should fit into the notches of my sissy bar struts snug. Also, its not as high (8 rather than 10") so will not be higher than my sissy bar pad (I have the HD Short bar).
Im with you guys, dont like to keep taking bags on and off the bike. "Fix it and leave it"!
I psyched now--i can throw items in the bag and not stuff my pockets with things while on a ride. Cheers!
