Default Relocated Rear Turn Signals and license plate 2011 WG Today

I expected this job to take about an hour, but it ended up taking most of the day. Really not a complicated job, but the electrical connectors weren't the same as the ones in the instructions.

The instructions were pretty much universal Dyna applications with a tail-lamp assembly. The Wide Glide doesn't have the tail-lamp assembly, and the connectors didn't fit through the holes in the GBG relocation bracket.

The online video was for a Softail, and the Wide Glide photos didn't really show how to do the job.

I ended up disassembling the turn-signals and cutting the ground wires. I tried removing the right ground connector, and had grounding problems with that side all day. I ended up soldering a ground wire to the lamp itself, just to make it work after I damaged the connector. It works great, but replacing that lamp won't be easy in the future.

Removing the stock license plate bracket turned out to be a chore. I couldn't get the mounting bolts to break free from the struts, and I ended up drilling them out after stripping the torx-head bolts.

I also installed the studs for the removable saddle-bag brackets. Tomorrow I will make the fine adjustments on the studs so the brackets will slide on and off as designed, then I'll mount the bags.

I'm pleased with the look of the bike with the turn signals and license plate moved to the rear of the fender. The OEM license plate lamp installed very easily on the new bracket.

I also installed the Screamin' Eagle Stage 1 air cleaner kit that fits under the stock cover. I'm debating whether or not to change the stock trim ring to the Screamin' Eagle trim ring.

If I have time tomorrow, I'm also going to install the Rush slip-ons with 2" baffles and the Power Commander V module with Auto Tune, which I purchased from Fuel Moto.

I look forward to all that being done. I'll provide pics tomorrow, whether or not I complete the pipes and all that.

After all that, I have the black finned derby and timing covers to install. When that's done, I'll have only to wait for the custom made sissy bar to arrive, then I'll have to do all the rear fender hardware all over again.

I have some Drag Specialties foot-boards to install as well.

At that point, my mods will be done for a while, and I'll start working on removing the catalyst from my spare head-pipe assembly so that I can get it more free-flowing.

Wish me luck that the rest of my mods don't give me the trouble that the turn-signal relocation kit did. This is the most time I've ever spent on such a simple job, and my back is sore from squatting all day. I need a stool for this kind of work.

I get a lot of questions about that. It's the Memphis Shades Speed Demon. http://www.memphisshades.com/harley-...speed-demon-hd

I had issues with my relocation bracket too. Had to drill one of the license plate bolts. I didn't have problems disassemling the connectors but didn't want to deal with soldering the new ends so I just cut the signal connectors, used wire connectors, and filled them with clear finger nail polish to seal them and then wrapped with black tape. I left the wires full length just in case I want to redo the connectors down the road.
S/E trim ring in my sig. Kind of cheesy but matches the color!

Pics as promised:

I also installed the black finned covers and the Rush slip-ons with 2" baffles. The new mufflers sound good!

Looks great. I like the look of that tailight relocation bracket. It really tucks the plate under the fender. How do those rush pipes sound?

I was gonna PM you about them. They sound great! I really appreciate the deal on them. The video you posted made my decision for me, but the vid doesn't do them justice. They make the bike sound like a Harley.

Next, I have to install the PC-V and Auto-tune kit. It's running fine with the stock map, but I'm sure I'll notice a difference with the tuner.

I don't know if you noticed, but I posted a pic with the windshield off, so you can see the clamps without the windshield. Meh. Not too bad.
