Agree, Apollo. I just noticed in his pic there are V&H BR pipes on the bike. One could also put the stock pipes back on, if available, remove PCV and then go from there.

I am talking about STOCK Dyna's. They surge in lower gears. Period.

OP-- + another 1 on lean mixture at that RPM. Your plugs prove it. Returning to stock exhaust would most likely eliminate that.

Regarding "all late Dyna's surge", it seems these EFI bikes are programmed rather lean. On my '09, I perceive a very slight "burbling stumbling" under those lower gear equilibrium riding speeds, that is not quite a surge. Motor and pipes are stock California-spec, except for an SE-Pro tuner. Bike runs sweet at all speeds and at all elevations, from sea-level to +10,000'. Plugs are off-white.

We adapt our style of riding to accommodate any bike's peccadilloes. There is merit to the thought that some surging can be exacerbated through our throttle grip; a small throttle friction-lock adjustment might damp this; perhaps an adjustment of both cables.

Hi,
I would check that your throttle cables are lubed and adjusted correctly. Then hook up a PC when the bikes warmed up and re- calibrate the TPS.
Hope this helps,
Jeff

Just realized i had a code on my bike. Didn't know that when the engine light comes on after the bike is started it meant there was a stored code. Anywho, I checked it and the only code it had was P0562 - Battery Voltage low. dont think that would do any harm, but I cleared it and will go for a ride in a bit and see if it comes back.

Also used some seafoam, bike seems to run a bit smoother, but still surges.

stock pipes are not available to me so going back to stock and working from there isnt an option.

I'll get ahold of a laptop and check the TPS setting latter today if i can get ahold of my brothers laptop. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for all the help!

No updates..... bike was barely running the past week. Bought a new ckp sensor cause I was throwing codes for it...didn't change a thing. Worked on it today and it turned out I had tons of water in the main harnes/PCV connection from washin the bike. Removed the PCV dried all connections and test rode it a bit this morning. Its finally runnin "normal" again. I'm gonna start working on the surge again this weekend. Will be sure to post if I find anything

The only way I was able to correct my surge was via tuning, I used the DIY method with the TTS tuning kit. Some bike have some play in the main chain that will feel like a surge at near closed throttle no load conditions and is considered normal.

I've read that the O2 sensors/ ECU switching between lean and rich can sometimes be felt as a surge, but your PCV eliminates that feature.

A leaky/sticky IAC may cause an overly lean condition.

Now you know where to be careful w/ the hose. But also you would do well to apply sufficient dielectric grease to those contacts.

Ok, so I finally got some time to dig around on the bike. Pulled the center console off, removed the tank plate and started the bike. Hoping that I had the pin hole in the fuel line problem. While the bike is running, the fuel pump dumps gas out of it on the back side. Just dropped it off at the local dealer and they said the pressure test was normal and that its normal for the fuel pump to do that. Doesn't sound right to me! What do u guys think??
