What you all think this bike should go for? http://sacramento.craigslist.org/mcy/2393831641.html
If this is a bike from a fellow forum member then disregard and I didn't mean to put the bike on blast. Nice looking bike.

It should sell for $8-9k, no more. My '09 FXDC was $9k, a year ago.

He's got over $4k in performance upgrades, plus a lot of add-ons costing a few grand more. It's possible he's spent 6 to 8 grand on the bike after purchasing, it's not exactly a stock bike worth only $9k or so.

If you like what he did and the bike checks out, it IS worth $15k! If you've ever done a build like this, you'd know what I'm talking about.

I don't see any suspension upgrades and don't care for some of the black treatment, but it is a nice bike and worth it's asking price. For $13k it'd be a steal. Just try pricing out his mods and take into consideration it's low mileage. He's about $20k plus into it and has barely ridden it.

I would offer 13.5 and go from there, have the cash ready if you are really interested. I would bet he has way over 20k in it...

to dudes that spend all day wondering if their chaps match their helmet, it's worth 6-8k. To dudes that know and appreciate the kind of work that goes into spec'ing a bike out like that, it's worth 15k. Make an offer and move on. if he's willing you'll be an owner if not you'll be a tire kicker. There's alot worse things in the world to be.

Newbies often think you can get back the money you spend modding your bike. Such is not the case. Mods add nothing to the resale value.

Check NADA or KBB... they only allow around $2,000 for add ons and extras. Most buyers want looks and *gags* bling if they're going to fork over $15,000 or even $13,500 for a 2004 Dyna.
If you don't mind waiting and running off potential sales for that right buyer you might get lucky, but a Dyna is a Dyna and even if you did engine work you're talking about the wear you put on the performance and the slight imperfections that develope over time, paint swirls or scratches, tires... I'd like to say "Dude, go for it!" I myself appreciate bikes with performance but I still wouldn't spend $15,000 for an older bike that has maybe 20 to 25 more HP than a new showroom floor model... not trying to be a dick, just being a realist, the last bike I sold for $15,000, no joke, was an 89 FLST and all I did was put brand new 1999 tin, S&S Super E Carb and a set of Samson exhaust on it. This was of course back in 1999 when Harley literary exploded in value! But again, hold out, you might find someone out there and I'd be more than happy to eat these words!:-)
