Just back from my first (semi) long trip on my 2011 Street Bob. This was from Colorado (south of Denver) out to the SF bayarea in California.
The way out I rode over I-70 - with 2 passes at around 10-11 thousand feet. The bike performed well, no problems at all. There was snow all over the road, thank goodness for my heated gear. The longest day was about 700 miles out to Ely NV.
The way back I took the southern route through Barstow, Flagstaff, and Albuquerque as there was a pretty good storm in the Rockies. Again the bike behaved well. This route I took my time on, averaging about 500 miles a day.
Two products I've added to the bike are worthy of mention.
First - a Windvest windshield. Awesome product. This the the 3rd bike I've had one of their windshields on and I could not be happier. I passed through hail and rain with out too much of a problem (there's always some discomfort - especially with hail, no matter what kind of fairing or windscreen you have on your bike. The Windvest looks great - seems almost invisible on the bike, yet keeps the bulk of the wind off me and thusly making long rides much easier.
Second - Kuryakyn Gran-throw over saddle bags. These bags are great. On or off the bike in minutes, no extra hardware required whatsoever. They're large enough to carry everything I needed and more.
All in all, the trip went well... now if summer would finally arrive I could get on to heading out again.

Glad you got back safe!
The wife and I are riding mine down to southern NM this weekend, then to eastern Oklahoma next month.
Big trip is up to Canada and then back over to Sturgis in August.
PS - That seat didbn't beat your *** too much?

Not too much.
You know, I forgot to mention the heel rests. I bought HD heel rests and had them powder coated at a local shop. When my *** started bothering me too much, I'd just stand up in the stirrups (as it were) and give it a break.

I also want to mention that I really dig the bag on the battery cover. That one looks really good! Makes me consider doing the same thing. I may have to find another battery cover on ebay so I can swap between the Wide Glide trim and the bag. Would also allow me to take the saddle-bags off more frequently.
I was going to ask the same thing. The stock seat on my WG beats the hell out of me. I'm upgrading to a Mustang Wide Touring.
