I have a 2001 FXDX and would trade it in a minute for a Street bob with similar miles.
Bigger engine, 6 speed, beef-yer front end.

Good choice..i was in the same boat tryin to decide between the two and ended up with a all stock 02 t sport. just somthing about the dx"s I like that the bobs dont. The factory bags and fairing on the t sport are pretty awsum. Good luck..youll live it

You gotta think resale too, if you wanna different bike in a year or so what will be easier to sell? 2007 6spd. imo, but all in all either will do and the bottom line is paying for something that you like and will enjoy regardless of year and options...

I've owned both, a 2003 FXDXT and now I have a 2007 FXDBI. I bought the FXDXT after reading articles about its adjustable suspension, dual disc front brakes, better ground clearance, etc. I can't say the handling was all it was cracked up to be (not that the FXDBI is real good either), and I don't remember the braking being any better than my Street Bob. The fairing and the saddlebags on the FXDXT were very good, and they're really the only things I miss with the 2007. The carbureter cough was not so good. Always seemed to happen at exactly the worst time.
The FXDXT had a tach, the Bob doesn't.
Personally, I went for the FXDBI, with the 96" engine, EFI, better front end, six speed, newer style primary, etc. I did a little engine work on it, got Dyna-Covertible bags for it and am adding a Rifle Roadster fairing next. I am very happy with it. Its the right choice for me.

Look Forward to seeing it ... This is what i would have gotten had the FXR4 Offer Been declined a 2002 FXDX ... Last of the Good Cranks ..

But No regrets ended up with this one it don't have a 6 speed, and only 80 Cubic Inch EVO engine but wouldn't trade it for two that did ..

A taller adjustable rear shock and a true track and the SB will be on par with the FXDX in the handling department, probably better. Handling is also related to skill. Moot point now I guess. Don't matter, you will still enjoy it!

got'em to the shop yesterday night after 600+miles non-stop ride back from seller. I went in today and did minor services..... and left it on the dyno. i will dyno tune the bike tomorrow to see where I'm at and will take try to take some pic. for you guys as well...
I'm looking into changing bars as soon as i can. either 6" riser or mini-apes.
functionally, it will be about the same but it will look a lot different.
with rise, i think it will look better but i might have problem getting to wind shield adj. ****. with mini-apes, I'll have fully functional adj **** access but i don't know how it will look like... i need some opinions or pictures.
new to do few other thing after dyno but I'll leave my engine as is for now but i don't know for how long..i guess I'll find that out tomorrow..
let you guys know.... prompt feed back on bar opinion will be greatly appreciated..
I'll need around town seat as well...will most likely get Le Pera Daytona sport basket weave. i like the look of it. anyone tried this seat?

Thanks in advance!!
