posted in the ignition forum, but once again, not enough traffic there. Im trying to get an answer ASAP. short story = bike barely runs when throttle is applied ( except at idle). Threw codes - ckp sensor. Changed it, still the same. 08 street bob with V&H big radius, pcv and stage 1 air filter. want to test the coil pack but need to know the procedure and what readings im supposed to get. thanks in advance
The reason I ask, is the book states that if P0374 was thrown, engine will not start. P0373 is an 'intermittent'. Procedure in the book states how to check, but states nothing about checking the coil pack.
I plan on getting a book but the closest deaqler is 25 miles away and i work third shift. kinda hard to get there between work, school and kids. Was hoping the gurus here had some insight
Thanks a million for the copies Archer! I gotta get ready for work now, but will do the rundown first thing tomorrow and upadate with results. Thanks again!
Well... I went to do some testing on the bike when I got home this morning and when I went to remove the PCV from the main harness, water came pouring out! The instructions for the PCV say to zip tie the main harness/PCV connection to the front of the battery where all the other wires are at. So thats what I did. It got soaked when I washed my bike, and after a few days of water sitting in the connections it must have started messing things up. I removed the PCV ( hope its not fried! ) and plugged the harness back into the ECM, reconnected the O2 sensors and took it for a quick ride. Like magic! back to the way it was. I still have surging at constant throttle like before, but atleast I can ride my scoot again! Thanks again Archer for the quick response and help! Now I have to head down the road to finding my surging problem. Thats a whole different can of worms!
