Have a windshield on my FXDC, wouldn't ride without one.

I bought one for a 1100 mile trip several weeks ago, and if you are spending several hours on the interstate it makes a difference. For around town riding, and short stints on the interstate, I can handle 70-75 mph without the shield. Not sure how much difference it will make this winter, but I might find I'll be using it more. It did make the trip alot more enjoyable.

I like my windshield, great for longer rides, when there are a lot of bugs, colder weather etc. But it is a quick detach, so I can enjoy the wind on a hot day.

Yesterday was the first really warm day we've had. So I took the windshield off and went for a ride. I hadn't gone 10 miles when a wasp hit me in the chest, dropped down onto the seat between my legs and stung me through my jeans. That was a tad uncomfortable for the couple of minutes I had to ride to get to a safe place to stop and kill the little bastard.

But once that was done the ride was good. 55mph and below are good without the shield. 60mph and up I perfer to have it on. I ride with mids so I'm sitting pretty straight up and the pressure on my chest gets annoying after a while.

That must have been a super wasp to have a stinger that can go through jeans. Or you must have had the cheapest *** jeans on the planet

If you bought it to ride, and you're on it all the time, and cover a lot of highway miles, get the windshield. It'll save you from fatigue, bugs, gravel, and make your life better.
Why the hostility? Some people (myself included) don't like windshields but I don't bag on those who choose to put them on their rides. And despite your assertion that with no windshield you can only ride 35 mph, some of us can and do ride much faster and longer.

Looking cool is just a nice by-product.

I'm sure it happened. A wasp got between my leg and gas tank on a sport bike and stung me through jeans once. It sucks dealing with a sting in progress and traffic all at once.

No hostility intended. Just the way I see it. I've done over 100 mph without a windshield, and I've done all day on the highway without one. Sure you can do it.... but why??? I'll keep mine.
